Friends of the Nueces River

A decision has been handed down by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department on March 11, 2008.  The Zavala County proposed LRAP has been denied!  The intent of Senate Bill 155 remains intact.

Thank you to all who helped by notifying TPWD and governmental officials about your views and opinions.  Your voice was heard!  And, thank you to the diligent TPWD folks for continuing to protect our rivers and natural areas!

Still, the Nueces River suffers from chronic problems with illegal vehicles driving in the river and frequently trespassing onto private property.  Law enforcement is still inadequate.  Littering is still rampant at the numerous present public access points in Zavala County.

Vehicular traffic and ongoing problems of litter in the Nueces river will continue to gravely impact the ecosystem if we stand by and remain silent.  Please join our efforts to persuade the County to take steps to clean up it's parks and provide safe and beautiful recreation areas for its residents and visitors. 

Please join us, Friends of the Nueces River.  We are forming now and need your help to achieve a clean and safe Nueces River for all of us, now and in the future.  (A membership form will be posted shortly, or you may email us.)   It is our goal to elect representatives and raise funds.  We plan to meet with county officials to find workable solutions on issues relating to the river and it's protection for the enjoyment of all.

Also, please join the Nueces County Taxpayers Association.  The annual fees are $15 and they provide invaluable services by representing Taxpayers.
